An outage on Jan. 30 at the Byron NuclearPower Plant
started when an electrical insulator failed and fell off the metal
structure it was attached to. That interrupted power and caused the
reactor to automatically shut down as a precaution. “The broken
insulator was replaced and the NRC inspection team verified the repair,”
Viktoria Mitlyng said.

2/9/2012 Dutchsinse tests levels at Byron Nuclear Generating Station in Illinois
Source: Dutchsinse

——————————————-
Many thanks to international medcom for the 2nd Inspector Alert geiger counter. Here is a link to their site (they are the manufacturer of the Inspector Alert geiger ) http://medcom.com/ ——————————————-
Here is a compilation list of radiation measurement videos made in Chicago — I still have another few videos to process — but these videos below represent a bulk of the measurements taken.
Each measurement was done for 10 minutes — using three geiger counters. Two inspector alert geiger counters — and one CDV-700 (civil defense) geiger counter w/ wand.
This mean each 10 minute video counts for THREE actual counts (there are two separate digital meters running simultaneously, and one analog).
First video of arrival at destination (our room generously donated by a viewer):

1/30/2012 Home video of Byron Nuclear Generating Station venting radioactive steam
Source: rcjmd YouTube channel
Date: 1/30/2012
Offsite power was lost on 1/30/2012 due to equipment failure in the switchyard which caused the nuclear power plant's diesel backup generators to kick in. An Unusual Event was declared, which is the lowest of four emergency classifications established by the U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission. In the video steam containing small amounts of tritium (radioactive hydrogen) is being vented from the reactor, which is out of the ordinary. Under normal operation, only the cooling towers vent steam. The Illinois Emergency Management Agency was sent out to gather air samples as well as water and vegetation samples to test for radioactive tritium levels.
