Is Fukushima the greatest environmental disaster of all time? Every
single day, 300 tons of radioactive water from Fukushima enters the
Pacific Ocean. The radioactive material that is being released will
outlive all of us by a very wide margin, and it is constantly building
up in the food chain. Nobody knows for sure how many people will
eventually develop cancer and other health problems as a result of the
Fukushima nuclear disaster, but some experts are not afraid to use the
word “billions”. It has been well over two years since the original
disaster, and now they are telling us that it could take up to 40 more
years to clean it up. It is a nightmare of unimaginable proportions,
and there is nowhere in the northern hemisphere that you will be able to
hide from it. The following are 11 facts about the ongoing Fukushima
nuclear holocaust that are almost too horrifying to believe…

The University of Missouri hosted
this years International Conference on Cold Fusion (ICCF) with the
largest event being the Defkalion Demonstration. The short description
is the Defkalion reactor functioned satisfactorily.
The ICCF ran over five days with an impressive group of experimentalists, theorists and engineers attending. The list of presenters was also impressive, with talks of research from across the planet, involving many nations and reaching deep into the science of Cold Fusion and Low Energy Nuclear Reactions or LENR

Radioactive materials found near Fukushima Daiichi
Highly radioactive materials have been found in a town near the damaged Fukushima Daiichi nuclear power plant. The plant operator says they are likely to have been contaminated in the March 2011 nuclear accident.
Four radioactive substances were found last month and this month on the riverbed of the Ide River that runs through Naraha Town in Fukushima Prefecture.
Tokyo Electric Power Company checked the radioactive cesium in the materials. The utility says the ratio of cesium 137, whose half-life is about 30 years, is higher than that of cesium 134, whose half-life is about 2 years.
TEPCO says a similar ratio is found in materials detected more than 2 years after radioactive contamination.
The company says it is trying to identify the substances. It is not known why they were discovered about 15 kilometers from the nuclear plant.
TEPCO officials say it is possible they were blown by hydrogen explosions in the 2011 disaster or were emitted by the plant around that time.

TAIPEI, Taiwan -- Typhoon Soulik's
strong winds caused one of the reactors at Taiwan's First Nuclear Power
Plant to automatically shut down as part of precautionary measures twice
on Saturday. At 2:50 a.m. on July 13, strong winds knocked out systems designed to reduce the likelihood of direct lighting strikes on the facility at the plant's number two reactor unit, resulting in an automatic shutdown. While repairs were carried out on the system, the reading for the number of neutrons became exceedingly high, once again leading to an emergency shutdown as part of protection measures. The United States of America Navy LENR energy patent is noteworthy. The transmutation of radioactive waste to benign elements through LENR low energy nuclear reactions is of global importance. With the continuing Fukushima disaster and the plutonium sludge leaks at the Hanford Nuclear Reservation site, which threatens planetary health, our government should be fast-tracking the LENR remediation of nuclear waste. This technology should be brought forward with broad disclosure and international involvement. The U.S. has not made broad disclosure and is thereby stalling international collaboration in development of this important nuclear waste and pollution remediation, a cold fusion technology.
Can we trust the DoE to do it right this time?

Date: 7/1/2013
OAK HARBOR, Ohio — The Davis-Besse Nuclear Power Station remained
shut down today as more details emerged about what caused the unplanned
closure.
Workers identified a problem with electrical wiring that connects a terminal box to the motor that powers one of the plant’s four reactor coolant pumps, said Jennifer Young, a FirstEnergy spokesman.
The wiring requires repair, and testing of the motor continues, she said. She did not know when the plant would restart or what caused the wiring problem.

5/31/2013 NASA Publishes Radiation Readings From Curiosity's Trip to Mars
Date: 5/31/2013
by: admin
A recent article published by NASA (5/30/2013) showed that Curiosity's RAD (radiation assessment detector) measured radiation on its trip to Mars to be 1.8 milliSieverts of GCR (galactic cosmic rays) per day while enclosed within the MSL (Mars Science Lab). Converting to the commonly used μSv/h scale (e.g. 1.8 * 1000/24) we get 75 μSv/h. As an informal comparison I drilled down on the MEXT radiation station data from Fukushima prefecture in Japan to see what the highest reading was. According to MEXT (Ministry of Education, Sports, Culture, Science and Technology) data for their "Ottozawa three district meeting place" the reading as of 5/31/2013 CST was about 29.04 μSv/hr, or 407 times the normal background radiation level.
Extrapolating then from our data (75/29.04 * 407) an astronaut riding within the MSL would receive an hourly radiation dose 1051 times higher than the level (according to MEXT of .037 μSv/hr) expected within Japan under normal conditions.
More comparisons can be garnered from the NASA article Data from NASA Rover's Voyage to Mars Aids Planning and also Wired Magazine's recent piece Radiation Risk for Mars Astronauts Will Be Dangerously High.

They are the first such attacks experienced by the country which is involved in a French-led offensive in neighbouring Mali against Islamist rebels.
At Agadez in the north, around 20 troops were killed and 16 others injured when the bombers attacked an army barracks. A French-run uranium mine at Arlit was also targeted.
The MUJWA, a West African offshoot of al Qaeda's North African wing has claimed responsibility. The group was among Islamist forces ousted from northern Mali earlier this year.
The Algerian commander Mokhtar Belmokhtar "supervised" the attacks, according to a Mauritanian news agency. In March the Chadian army said it had killed him but this was never confirmed.
Security had been stepped up at the uranium mine operated by the French nuclear group Areva. A car bomb there left one person dead and many injured.
The attacks are seen as evidence that the conflict in Mali is spilling over.
The French President Francois Hollande has vowed to protect his nation's interests and to support Niger in its "fight against terrorism".

Date: 5/18/2013
The German city of Hamburg likely avoided a major technological disaster on May 1, when a freighter ship caught fire. It had several tons of radioactive material and explosives among its cargo, it was revealed.
It took 200 firefighters working for several hours to douse the fires on the Atlantic Cartier. The ship’s most visible cargo was some 70 cars, 30 of which were damaged in the incident. But now it was revealed that the vessel also had highly dangerous substances on board as well, which posed the threat of radioactive contamination to the area.
